Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority(CMDA) recently released a letter which states that anyone owning unapproved plots registered before 1989 under the CDMA has the right to directly go to the local authorities and get the plots regularized without applying through the online portal for unauthorized plots.
The local authorities were all in the bad news for not processing the applications for regularizing the unapproved plots registered before December 31, 1989. CMDA also clarified that local authorities can also process the unapproved plots citing the Regularization of Unapproved Plots and Layouts Rules, 2017.
CMDA also made sure that no power has been taken away from the local authorities in this matter and owners of these unapproved plots can go and regularize the plots registered before 1989.
