P Narayana, the State Minister for Urban Development in Andhra Pradesh has requested the officials of district Vizianagaram to concentrate on building more affordable housing projects for the next 15 months.

After the minister’s inspection tour to Saripalli, a small village in AP, he felt the need for constructing more affordable housing projects. Affordable housing projects are cost effective and could be bought easily by people with critical financial condition. He further added that around 7 lac units would be built in the next 15 months.

 The government will take up the humongous task of providing 7 lac units with proper amenities. The first 35,000 units would be inaugurated by 24th March, 2019 out of which 4,000 units would be constructed within the district of Vizianagaram.

The minister further assured that all major urban development officials have been sent to different parts of the country to study the best housing models in order to provide a highly designed and quality home for all.

35000 Affordable Housing Projects for Vishakhapatnam

Andhra Pradesh government has started hunting for land parcels to develop 35000 affordable housing projects in Vishakhapatnam that come under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

The project is set to be done in 3 phases:

  • 35,000 units would be built in a 900-acre satellite township near Lankalepalem which is on the outskirts of Vishakhapatnam. 
  • Areas like Kommadi, Dabbanda village in Anandapuram Mandal, Sowbhagya Rayapuram Village in Pendurthi Mandal will have the remaining homes developed under the scheme. 
  • Another 4,120 units will be developed in places like Satyanarayanapuram near Anakapalli, Aganampudi, Parawada and Rathi Cheruvu in Pendurthi Mandal.

The state government has also setup Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTID) which is responsible for developing another sanctioned 16,000 units.
